Heathfield International Summer School

Heathfield Summer School provides an education of the same high standard as the main school.

The course is accredited by the British Council which regularly inspects all aspects of teaching and learning, welfare, the leisure programme, premises and management.

Each year at Heathfield  we welcome girls aged 8 to 17 from over 30 different countries, including many British girls on our Summer Camp.

Many students return for three, four or even five summers. Some go on to become student assistants,  a few of whom have been with us for over 10 years!

I have been here for 16  summers!. A lot of things have changed since my first summer, new girls, new staff, new trips every year… but the atmosphere is still the same, always very friendly, giving us the opportunity to learn a lot about different cultures, and this always makes me happy when I come back  here. - Eve, France, former Student and now Administration  Assistant

Students enjoy a well-balanced programme which comprises 20 English lessons (15 hours' tuition) per week in the mornings, three weekly excursions and an exciting range of activities in the afternoons and evenings.

To help girls settle in and make friends, they are all assigned, on arrival, to a House - a group of girls of different nationalities and ages, together with their own House Staff..  Together they put on House shows or take part in  sports competitions; these events are extremely popular and help girls to mix with each other.

I can only say that over the years, hours in the class seem to last a few minutes – compliments to ALL the teachers. And I love kayaking, archery, sports on the field and the evenings are NEVER boring, so many shows and competitions. How can a girl want anything more?? - Annalisa, Italy, Student Assistant

Older girls aged 14 – 17 can also enjoy a week on our English with Style course which includes British culture and etiquette, fashion and well-being.

Heathfield has an exceptionally good staff to student ratio of 1:6. Teachers of English, sport, art, dance and drama, activities assistants and our pastoral and office staff live in the school with the girls to create our very special happy, family atmosphere.

“My best times are basically every second here at Heathfield. I really enjoyed coming back and seeing old friends while making new friends at the same time. I have never been so happy before outside home. Heathfield is like a second home and waking up to a fresh new day here is like heaven to me.” - Joyce, 14, China
