Welcome to
Summer School and Summer Camp 2011!
We are all looking forward to another happy, successful year and here is our
news:
STUDENT NEWS
We are looking forward to seeing former students
Anne-Catherine from France,
Annalisa
from Italy
and
Karla from Bahrain who will
be working in the office once more. They will be joined by
Gabriela from Spain and
Maria from Portugal as
Student Assistants as well as Iona,
Abigail, Poppy and
Ellie from England to help
with Summer Camp.
Maria and
Iona have written letters to welcome old and new girls to Heathfield this
year.
Dear Girls,
I’m
waiting the entire year for the holidays because I feel so great at
Heathfield. It feels like yesterday when I first went to Heathfield 3 years
ago with my younger sister. Now, this will be my 4th year and at the same
time my 1st year as a Junior Assistant and I’m so delighted. Despite being
just one month, I feel like I’m in my second home and that I can come
everytime I want to because everyone is so warm and kind, like a huge
family. I have magical memories of all of my friends from different cultures
(returners or new girls), of all of my teachers, the divine and green
english landscape, the food, the trips that allow us to know different
places, the activities which are always great fun (dance, cookery, horse
riding, yoga or sports), the shows, the discos.
More than just learning English,
girls you’ll learn how to be better
human beings. You’ll always remember the laughs or the tears, the gestures
instead of words. And everyone can be helpful, the 8 year-old or the 17
year-old. This year, I’ll be there, as always, to help you. Different
experiences will lead you to learn different things but in the end all of
what you’ve learn will be necessary and will make you want to come back
again. Here is a photo of me
and some of my friends on the playing fields.
Love, Maria
Dear girls,
The sun is finally beginning to shine and for me that only means one
thing... Heathfield Summer Camp is just around the corner! This will be my
4th year at Heathfield and I can't wait. There is such a positive energy at
Heathfield and it really caters for every girl: whether you're the youngest
or the oldest; or whether you are sporty or creative.
As many of you will know, Heathfield is a wonderful way of making new
friends from all over the world. I love to stay in contact with the people I
have met at Heathfield throughout the year and it is wonderful to see them
again every summer at Heathfield.
This year, I will be helping for my second year at the Summer Camp, and I will also be assisting in the English with Style course. The English with Style course is simply wonderful, and I hope that students from across the world will learn so much about English culture as well as gain important life skills. Here is a picture of me helping with Flower Arranging.
Love, Iona xx

and Zara.
Zara has been in Australia and here
is a nice picture of her and a new friend!
Karen
will be spending more time with us this summer so there will be many more
opportunities to take photographs such as these from last year.

New activities staff will be appearing at Heathfield this summer.
Jenny is now Fashion Designer

well. Here is a photo from her 2010 Fashion Collection of travel clothes
called ‘Wish you Were Here’.

spending the summer helping us with drama and all our shows. We also welcome
Alexandra to help with sports

Here is a photo of Simon in costume on stage.
In the office you will again find
Helen,
Linda, Caroline and
Elspeth, who this year will
be training Emily
to do her job as she is furthering her studies by doing a PhD at
Bristol University. Emily is
Lucy A’s sister.
Taking
good care of you all again will be our wonderful matrons
Alison and
Pauline and nurse
Elizabeth.
And because we know many former students and staff read this Newsletter, here is a picture of two of our former Activities Staff, brother and sister Darren and Kelly. Darren and his wife had their daughter Ciela baptized in the Heathfield School Chapel. The family live in Florida where Darren is a university lecturer.
And we end with some sad news. Christina
Solari
died in February while having an operation for a broken hip
We know how many of you loved Christina for her kindness and her
cheerful, warm character and also for the wonderful work that she did making
beautiful hairstyles, applying elegant make-up and giving you relaxing
facials. Helen, Linda, Alison and Lori attended her funeral and sent flowers
from Summer School. We will miss her this summer but perhaps Karla summed it
up for us all when she said: “I will always remember her as a joyful person
and for the happiness she spread.”
